PALATINE, IL — The Palatine Police Department said a woman has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm stemming from an investigation into an incident that took place March 29 in the 300 block of W. Hamilton Lane. According to a release, Palatine officers responded to a report just after 11 p.m. of a loud noise inside a home in that block, and upon arrival found a 31-year-old resident who reported finding apparent bullet holes in her kitchen cabinets and window. According to police, it appeared the bullet holes were created from the path of a single bullet, and the bullet was found on the floor in the hallway outside the kitchen.

According to a release, police determined the bullet was shot from an area south of the home, leading them to search the area. Police located what appeared to be a bullet hole in the window of an adjacent home, and officers spoke with two people inside, officials said.

A 41-year-old female resident told officers she and her 42-year-old male friend had been drinking alcohol throughout the night, police said, adding that at one point, the man told the woman he had a pistol and put it on a table in front of her.
