Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Metra Train In Palatine

PALATINE, IL — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metra train early Friday morning in Palatine.

Metra said Union Pacific Northwest train No. 602 hit the pedestrian at about 5:10 a.m. near Baldwin Road and Northwest Highway, according to CBS Chicago.

The pedestrian died at the scene and had not been identified as of Friday morning.

Metra said service on the Union Pacific Northwest line was suspended after the crash, according to CBS Chicago.

The incident remains under investigation.
