Pledge a Thanksgiving Basket for In-Need Palatine Township Families
Businesses, organizations, individuals and others are asked to provide Thanksgiving dinner items, or monetary donations.

Palatine Township is again sponsoring its Thanksgiving Program, which provides baskets full of all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner for in-need Township families. Click here for a list of accepted basket items.
Businesses, organizations, individuals and other groups are asked to pledge to provide either the items themselves, or make monetary donations so that they can be purchased by the Township to prepare the baskets for residents in time for Thanksgiving.
“Donors have been incredibly generous in past years; last year, 791 families were served due to the giving nature of our Township residents,” said Sharon Langlotz-Johnson, Palatine Township Supervisor.

The Township is working to increase the number of families served by nearly 100 for this year’s program.
The families who receive the Thanksgiving Baskets are referred by school social workers throughout Palatine Township. Many might not qualify for general assistance, but are approved to utilize the Township food pantry and can receive the Thanksgiving Baskets.

The program is anonymous; Palatine Township pairs up families with donors and all that is known is that the recipients are in-need. Those who donate know that they helped to lessen the financial burden to help those in-need celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
Volunteers for the program include local high school and middle school students who get involved as part of required service hours.
“These young people are learning the importance of helping others through volunteering, at a time when many are experiencing financial burden,” Langlotz-Johnson said.
If you are interested in pledging either food items or monetary donations, please visit the Palatine Township website at http://www.palatinetownship.com/thanksgiving-2015/.
Pledges must be made no later than Friday, October 30, 2015. Call Palatine Township at 847-358-6700 or email llindberg@palatinetownship.com if you have question.
