Police Investigate Attempted Child Abduction Near Palatine

The Cook County Sheriff's is asking for the public's help in tracking down the driver of a pick-up truck who approached two juveniles.

COOK COUNTY, IL — The Cook County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in tracking down a man who is accused of trying to lure two juveniles into his pickup truck Tuesday evening. The incident occurred in the 2300 block of Nichols Road near Frontage Road in unincorporated Palatine Township about 6 p.m. on Jan. 7, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The man fled after a relative of the two juveniles saw the truck and began to walk toward it, according to authorities.

The driver is described as a Hispanic man who is about 5 feet tall with a dark mustache and beard He was driving a red pick-up truck with yellow lights on the roof and no front license plate, police said.
