Property Tax Appeal Deadline for Palatine Township Residents is Approaching

Residents have until May 9, 2016 to file an appeal online or in person at the Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road in Palatine.

Residents have until Monday, May 9, 2016 file their property tax appeals with the Palatine Township Assessor’s office. The lines of people and subsequent wait times have been relatively long since mid-April.

Palatine Township Supervisor Sharon Langlotz-Johnson said the increases in assessments have been overwhelming to some residents. Assessment figures are frozen for three years at a time, and the most recent increases sent out by Cook County earlier in April had average increases of approximately 20-percent.

Palatine Township residents are encouraged to file their appeals prior to the deadline. In previous years, the last day to file an appeal saw wait times that reached more than two hours.
