Raja Opens Up Sizable Lead in Illinois' 8th District Race
Builds 13 to 1 Fundraising Lead Over Nearest Opponent.

Raja Krishnamoorthi announced that his campaign for Congress in the 8th District of Illinois opened up a 13 to 1 financial lead over his nearest opponent, State Senator Michael Noland, who brought in only $77,492 and spent 86% of the money he raised in Q3. Raja raised $420,010 in the 3rd quarter of 2015 and had $945,832 cash on hand in the race to succeed Rep. Tammy Duckworth.
Responding to the news, Raja said, “I am humbled that my campaign continues to receive support from so many hard working families, from over 100 leaders and organizations including many progressive members of Congress and from strong allies in the Illinois labor community. It is clear that my message of helping more Americans find good jobs and achieve economic security is resonating with voters in the Northwest Chicago suburbs.”
Last week, Raja expanded his Working Families Agenda by releasing a four point plan for affordable college which includes a New Opportunity Tax Credit, an expansion of Pell Grants, and incentives for employers match employee payments on student debt. Raja recently received support from the Illinois State Council of Machinists, which represents over 33,000 workers, and the International Union of Elevator Constructors.
