PALATINE, IL – This morning, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi presented William Rainey Harper College President Dr. Avis Proctor and Board Chair William Kelley with a $500,000 ceremonial check for the federal funding he secured for the college’s new aviation maintenance program that provides training opportunities for students to gain technical skills critical for careers in the aviation industry, including certifications and degree programs in aviation maintenance. This grant will fund new curriculum development, instructional equipment, recruitment activities, student scholarships, and other grant activities that increase awareness of career opportunities in the aviation industry.

“I am thrilled to be able to secure this key funding for Harper College’s Aviation Maintenance Program,” said Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. “It’s long been a priority of mine to expand career and technical educational opportunities for students across our state, and I can’t wait to see the new heights to which Harper soars thanks to this funding.”
