Robert March Wiley, 79

Services for Robert March Wiley, 79, have been scheduled.

Memorial visitation will be held Saturday Feb. 4, 2012, 2 p.m.-5 p.m. at 201 N. Northwest Hwy, Palatine, Illinois.

Robert March Wiley (Bob) was born Sept. 9, 1932 in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of the late Frank and Loie (March) Wiley. Robert lived in Oak Park through the 7th grade until his family moved to a farm in Schaumburg in 1944. Robert graduated from Palatine High School in 1950 and also got his pilot's license in 1948. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University.

He was united in marriage to Irma Berg on March 2, 1957. They had three children, Donald, Jeffrey, and Scott. Robert worked in sales at various companies after college, including Fastener, Foam Rubber City, Fuller, and Frank Wiley Co. Robert was the Vice President and on the Board of Directors of Compact Industries until his retirement in 1992.

As a resident of Palatine, Robert was a member of the Lions Club and the Elk's Club. He was also a 3rd Degree Mason. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Clearbrook Center. Flying, golfing, hunting (pheasants), and collecting various treasures for his treasure cove (basement) were passions he had during his lifetime.

In his later years he loved to travel with Irma until her passing in 1991. He kept busy with his sons and grandsons telling his stories about life.

Robert passed away Jan. 15, 2012 at Northwest Community Hospital after battling liver cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Loie and his wife Irma.

Robert is survived by his son Donald of Palatine; son Jeffrey of Cresco, Iowa; and son Scott, (Jennifer), and grandsons Brandon, Colten, and Reid all of Cresco, Iowa.

He will always be remembered.
