Rotary Club of Palatine installs Peace Pole
The Rotary Club of Palatine will gather along with any individuals interested in peace in the world on June 30th at Town Square Park.

The Rotary Club of Palatine will gather along with any individuals who are interested in peace in the world at 7:30 AM on June 30th at Towne Square Park located at 150 West Palatine Road in Palatine to plant a Peace Pole which represents a permanent symbol of global harmony.
According to May Peace Prevail on Earth International, a not-for-profit organization associated with the Department of Public Information at the United Nations, a Peace Pole is an internationally recognized monument dedicated to the hopes and dreams of the entire human family. Each pole bears the universal message and prayer, "May Peace Prevail on Earth," engraved on its sides.
The Palatine Peace Pole features this message in four different languages, representing both the diverse tapestry of the local community and humanity’s shared desire for world peace. By planting this monument, the Rotary Club of Palatine joins a global movement. There are an estimated 250,000 Peace Poles in virtually every country on Earth—from the Pentagon and the United Nations to the Egyptian Pyramids and community parks across the globe.

"Promoting peace is one of Rotary International’s core avenues of service," said Ben Rea, President of the Rotary Club of Palatine. "This Peace Pole is more than just a beautiful addition to Towne Square Park; it is a physical reminder to cultivate peace in our daily thoughts, words, and actions. It links our Palatine community directly with millions of people worldwide who share the same vision of goodwill. We invite anyone who wants to bring peace to the world to join us at this event."
The concept of the Peace Pole was first envisioned in 1955 by Masahisa Goi of Japan, in the wake of the destruction of World War II. Today, Rotary clubs worldwide champion the project to advance "Positive Peace" — the idea that true peace is not just the absence of conflict, but the active presence of community health, inclusivity, and strong relationships with neighbors.
