Shyamala K. Revuluri, M.D.

Funeral services for Dr. Shyamala K. Revuluri, (nee: Thittakudi), 66, of Hoffman Estates, will begin at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.  Interment will be private.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the funeral home.

Shyamala was born October 15, 1945 in Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu, India, and she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at her home.

Shyamala received her Medical Degree in 1969 and a post-graduate Diploma in Child Health in 1971, both from Stanley Medical College.  She was Board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, and Emergency Medicine.  She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, and her fellowship in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago. For over 30 years, she worked as an emergency room physician at Sherman Hospital, Elgin, as well as other area hospitals.

Survivors include her husband, Krishnaiah Revuluri; son, Vijay Sendhil (Venu Gupta) Revuluri; daughter, Sindhumathi (Nina Moe) Revuluri; grandson, Karthik Satyam Revuluri; and granddaughter, Meera Vidya Revuluri.

Shyamala was preceded in death by her parents, Dwarakanathan R. and Janabai D. (nee: Mysore) Thittakudi.
