Sikh Group to Hold Candlelight Vigil in Palatine

The interfaith event Wednesday is to show support for the victims of the Orlando mass shooting.

Palatine, IL—The Sikh Religious Society will hold an interfaith candlelight vigil this week in support and remembrance of the victims of mass shooting in Orlando.

The vigil will be Wednesday, June 22, at the Palatine Gurdwara Sahib, 1280 Winnetka St. Prayers are scheduled at 7 p.m., followed by tributes and the candlelight vigil at 7:45 p.m. A free Sikh vegetarian meal will be served at 8:30 p.m.

The interfaith event is a way for the group to call for peace and create solidarity against hate and violence as a response to the June 12 shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando that killed 49 people.
