Sometimes blessings come very quickly!
New intern comes just in time to help create a memorable event at Party For The Preserves in Palatine Sept. 29

Sometimes the blessings come very quickly and we're not sure if it is or isn't until we are in the midst of it.
This year, I have been super busy with events and building new concert tours for 2019 already. After one of the Lullaby Concerts at Camp Reinberg in June, I was invited to give a concert for the PARTY FOR THE PRESERVES celebration in honor of National Public Lands Day on September 29 at Deer Grove East Forest Preserve. I accepted the invite and began getting busy on the preparations.
My interns went back to school in August and we did not have time to find new ones in the mix of all the activity. So I figured all the work was going to be on my shoulders for this new concert. As I was looking over my schedule trying to figure out how to squeeze it all in, I received an email from a student who had graduated from Harper College a year ago and was looking for an internship position to grow his field of interest in Graphic Arts. At first I felt I didn't have time to interview him. Then I remembered I had just said a short prayer about getting more interns to help with the work load. And I remembered a friends wise words of " if you pray for it, look out and watch how fast it comes. And accept it whatever form it comes in".

Ok I thought, I don't have time to interview, but I have even less time to put together all the marketing materials needed for this new concert. So I decided to give him a try and called him in for an interview.
I enjoyed the conversation and his portfolio, and offered him the position. He was super short on time himself but really wanted to grow his career so he accepted it. yay! His job was to create fun, family oriented, interesting and eye catching posters, leaflets and programs for the concert. Within two weeks he put together beautifully laid out designs. He learned a little from me about metadata, watermarking and intellectual property rights. I learned a bit more about working with Graphic Artists and how amazing they are when it comes to being sensitive to the project's vision and goals and delivering that in tangible format in beautiful posters! I am so grateful Aaron Wagner came on board just in the nick of time. Everything was printed and distributed and I was happy because I had a little more time to focus on the concert itself.
