No, the businesses are not allowed to sell the players anything or entice the players to sign up or register to get the players to come back. These businesses have found the fun and creative spirit in life again by creating something fun to do for one day of the year! From haunted houses inside their shops, to challenging, messy, silly, spooky activities, this year's game has a great line up! And while the business names cannot be given out in advance - because it's a scavenger hunt - we can say it's awesome!

This year, local girl scout troupe from Palatine/Rolling Meadows is joining the game as live zombies protecting clue buckets at various locations. The players need to outwit or outrun them to get to the clue bucket. If they cannot get around the zombies, the players give the zombies a gold chocolate coin (from their goody bags which they receive at the start/registration table). Sometimes needing to negotiate with the zombies for more than one gold chocolate coin.

"There are many dimensions to this game which makes it interesting and challenging for every age" says game designer Barb Sorensen. " I created the game because I felt like I was becoming a techno zombie sitting behind a computer during concert booking season one year, for nearly 24 hours straight! I wanted to meet other business owners in the community and went out for a walk. As I went into each shop, I saw they too were sitting non-stop behind their computers and the extent of the conversations was "hey!". I wanted more interaction and saw the danger of us, as business owners, falling prey to the automization and how our relationships skills and serving customers was at risk. " Barb is happy to see so many businesses come together in Palatine to create this game. Stepping back into being humans and having fun with players in the game. Whether they sell anything or not, the higher calling seems to be to reconnect humanly and haver fun doing it.
