Thieves Target Cars In Palatine Neighborhood: Cops
The thief or thieves smashed the windows of five different vehicles and took items from inside in recent days.
PALATINE, IL — The Palatine Police Department responded to several reports of criminal damage and burglaries to vehicles in town in recent days and one drunken driving report. Here is a look at recent crime reports from the local police department:
Burglary from Vehicle/Criminal Damage Reports
A thief or thieves smashed the windows of five different vehicles and stole items from inside between Aug. 8 and Aug. 9, police said. Here is a closer look at those reports:

- An offender or offender shattered the rear passenger window of a Jeep in the 800 block of West Panorama Drive between 6 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 6:50 a.m. on Aug. 9. A Chromebook and computer accessories were taken from the vehicle.
- The front passenger window of a Mitsubishi parked in the 800 block of West Panorama Drive was smashed and an Access Port valued at $600 was taken. The incident occurred between 6 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 6:50 a.m. on Aug. 9.
- A thief or thieves smashed the front passenger window of a Toyota parked in the 800 block of West Panorama Drive between 6 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 6:50 a.m. on Aug. 9. An iPad was taken.
- A speaker box was stolen from a Subaru parked in the 800 block of West Panorama Drive between 6 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 6:50 a.m. on Aug. 9. The offender or offenders smashed a rear window in the vehicle to get in.
- A radar detector valued at $400 was taken from a Porsche parked in the 1000 block of North Glenview Court between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 9.The offender or offenders shattered a passenger side window to gain access to the Porsche.
Driving While Under the Influence Arrest
Police pulled over a vehicle at 11:53 p.m. on Aug. 8 following a traffic crash in the 1000 block of Bayside Drive. Jaime Rojas-Ramos, 28, of the 1000 block of East Randville Drive, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and blood alcohol content over .08.
