Tip Helps Palatine Police Catch Man Accused Of Taking Pics Of Girl In Dressing Room

Michael Ocenas, 38, was arrested Thursday after he allegedly used his cellphone to take photos of a girl in a Target fitting room.

PALATINE, IL — A Lake Zurich is accused of holding a cellphone underneath a Palatine Target fitting room door to photograph a girl trying on clothes. Michael Ocenas, 38, of the 1400 block of Sandy Pass, is charged with two counts of felony unauthorized video recording after he was arrested Thursday thanks in part to an anonymous tip, according to Palatine police. His bail was set at $40,000, and his next court date is June 1.

According to police, the incident happened at about 3:50 p.m. March 26, at Target, 679 E. Dundee Road. The victim told officers she was in a store fitting room when she noticed a cellphone held beneath the door. She screamed when she saw the phone, and the man fled the store after that.

Security cameras captured photos of the suspect, and a description of the man was given to store employees. Police finally identified Ocenas as the suspect after an anonymous tip and a follow-up investigation.
