Traditional "It's A Wonderful Life" Movie Screening at Cutting Hall on December 4

Come see the 1946 Holiday classic movie on the big screen at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center.

Palatine Park District will be hosting a screening of the 1946 classic holiday film, “It’s A Wonderful Life” on Sunday, December 4 at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood Street, Palatine. The screening will begin at 6:30pm, preceded by a raffle to raise funds for the Susannah’s Gift Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $2.00 and available in advance, as well as at the door. Doors will open at 5:30pm for open seating and raffle ticket sales.

Directed by Frank Capra, and starring Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore, “It’s a Wonderful Life” tells the story of George Bailey and the town of Bedford Falls. George spends his entire life giving up his big dreams for the good of his town, as we see in flashback. But in the present, on Christmas Eve, he is broken and suicidal over the misplacing of an $8,000 loan and the machinations of the evil millionaire, Mr. Potter. His guardian angel, Clarence, falls to Earth, literally, and shows him how his town, family, and friends would turn out if he had never been born.

The Susannah’s Gift Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Susannah Kist, a long time Palatine Park District theater and music teacher, who lost her battle with cancer in 2009. The scholarship fund, made possible through the Palatine Park Foundation, assists residents with financial need who would like to participate in park district cultural arts activities. Raffle prizes have been generously donated by the following local businesses: Bentley’s Pet Stuff, Chick-fil-A Kildeer, Evolve Chiropractic, Jewel-Osco Plum Grove Road–Palatine, Photos Hot Dogs, and Satori Massage Spa. The raffle centerpiece will be a handmade quilt created by the Palatine Park District’s quilting class.
