PALATINE, IL — The treasurer for Virginia Lake Elementary School's Parent Teacher Association was arrested late last month and is accused of stealing more than $2,000 from the group, according to the Daily Herald.
Amanda Toepper was arrested Oct. 28, and she was charged with felony theft, the report stated. Her bail was set at $10,000, the report added.
Palantine police started investigating Toepper after the school's PTA contacted the department in October, the report stated. In her role as treasurer, police allege Toepper had been stealing money generated by school fundraisers held by the group, the report added.
