Vote for Your Favorite Way to Play at Dove and Hawthorne Parks

Palatine Park District invites the community to help select playground amenities at two parks.

Palatine Park District will be replacing the playground equipment at two park sites this summer. For one week only, the District is inviting the community to be a part of the decision-making process as staff members select the final amenities for the playgrounds at Dove Park, 1802 Green Lane South, and Hawthorne Park, 210 S. Brockway Street, in Palatine. Ballots will be accepted through Friday, March 9.

Dove Park was leased to Palatine Park District in 2001 by Baldwin Greens Homeowner’s Association. The playground was installed in 2002 to include a swing set, tree house roof, panels, climbers, overhead ladder, and three slides. Hawthorne Park was donated to the District in 1965 and was last renovated in 2003. Current playground equipment includes a clatter bridge, horizontal ladder, panels, climbers, and two slides.

New playground equipment at Dove Park and Hawthorne Park are divided up into various category types with four options each. Dove Park categories include playground colors, overhead climbers, slides, deck climbers, panels, spring riders, and freestanding play. Hawthorne Park categories include playground colors, overhead climbers, slides, deck climbers, and panels. The main structures at each site are designed for children age 5-12.
