Walking Dead Found the Cache! Halloween Techno Zombie Geo Cache Hunt 2016!
Scavenger Hunt that took part in Palatine

On Saturday, 29th October 2016 the Annual Halloween Techno Zombie Geo Cache Hunt 2016 took place in Palatine!
It is an all ages scavenger hunt that utilizes digital technology to send players into local Palatine businesses for an interactive fun activity. It also has them do light community service work en route.
This year 31 palatine locations, which included businesses and community service organizations, transformed their shops into haunted rooms where the players had to solve tasks to get hint’s for the next location they had to go to. The players also received stamp’s for their passport booklet. If they solved all the tasks, they could win great prizes at the evening award celebration event. The businesses and community service organizations received prizes for the most memorable, scariest and funniest tasks. Extra points were given to players who brought a donated food item for the palatine food pantry- Items were dropped of at Peapod, which was one of the participating locations in the hunt.

Dairy Queen of Palatine Plaza - second prize for funniest activity,
Chicago Clock Company - third prize for scariest activity,
Games Workshop - third place for most memorable,
What’s brewing supply Palatine - first prize most delicious,
First prize most challenging - Escapology,
Second place most challenging - Batting Bennie’s,

Prizes included:
3 gift certificates for 5 days and 4 nights in Cancun or Riviera Maya getaway, sponsored by Larry Pyzik - Rovia leisure travel consultant,
a free lube oil change and filter by Palatine Complete Automotive on Colfax Street, sponsored by Marin Auto Collision Repair,
Delicious Pies from Baker’s Square,
Salon Gift certificate Areté Salon,
free hair cut from In Style Studio Palatine,
set of garden tools from PNC Bank,
free bicycle-tuneup from Mike’s Bike Shop in Palatine.
4 groups of players won top prizes for finishing the fastest with the most locations. According to the players the best prize of all was the fun time they had!
There were 16 businesses that sold tickets around palatine! There were 10 free gold tickets hidden in random products in local palatine businesses for shoppers. One of the gold tickets was found at Edelweiss Delicatessen store by a very excited 10 year old girl.
