Website Aims To Direct Resources To Those In Need

Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, is highlighting the new Help is Here feature on the Illinois Department of Human Services’ (DHS) website aimed at streamlining access to services for those in need of assistance with housing, health care, food security and more.
“As we face an unprecedented public health crisis, residents around the state are experiencing new and unexpected challenges,” Walker said. “For those who do not know where to start, it may be helpful for them to visit dhs.illinois.gov/helpishere.”
DHS’ Help is Here webpage highlights options and resources for securing food, emergency lodging, child care, domestic violence assistance, Medicaid help, mental health services, suicide prevention and more. Individuals who are in need of unemployment assistance can also visit the Illinois Department of Employment Security’s website at https://www2.illinois.gov/ides to file a claim. Up to date general information on the state’s response to COVID-19 can be found at coronavirus.illinois.gov.
