Woman, 70, Hit By Car In ‘Domestic-Related Incident,’ Police Say

The woman and several others were involved in an altercation before the elderly woman was hit by a car, according to police.

PALATINE, IL — An elderly woman sustained a head injury after being hit by a car in a gas station parking lot Monday afternoon, police said. The collision occurred shortly after the 70-year-old woman was involved in an altercation with several individuals at the Speedway Gas Station, 404 E. Dundee Road, just after noon, according to a news release from the Palatine Police Department.

During the altercation, the 70-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old woman who was attempting to leave the gas station, police said.

Police found the 70-year-old woman lying on the ground with an obvious injury to her head. She was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Her condition isn't clear.

The case “appears to be a domestic related incident,” police said, adding that it remains under investigation.
