Woman Accused of Drunken Driving in Head-On Collision in Palatine

Palatine police claim the 51-year-old Carpentersville driver caused the 2-SUV accident last week.

CHICAGO, IL — A Carpentersville woman is accused of drunken driving and hurting herself and another driver in a two-SUV crash last week in Palatine, the Daily Herald reports.

Gloria Ortiz, 51, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane use and driving without insurance in the Feb. 1 accident. Her next court date is Feb. 28.

According to Palatine police, Ortiz was driving eastbound on West Dundee Road at around 6:45 p.m. when she crossed to the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a Toyota SUV, near North Palos Avenue, the report stated. Both drivers were injured and hospitalized in the crash, the report added.
