She was originally brought to the hospital Thursday in critical condition after police said she was stabbed at least 20 times in the face and neck while in her vehicle outside the Century Theater, which is located at 21600 W. Field Parkway in Deer Park.

Daniel J. Dion, 18, of Des Plaines, is accused of stabbing her. Dion told police he woke Thursday morning with the “intent to kill” King because she ”annoyed him.”

Dion met with King “under the ruse that they would be going to a movie together,” police said. Dion is charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is being held without bail at the Lake County Jail.

A woman claiming to be King’s friend described King as “very inviting, very accepting,”according to comments posted by the friend on Reddit.com, which is a social networking and news website. The friend said King worked with Dion at a telemarketing firm andtried to befriend the man who seemed to be socially withdrawn, according to the Reddit comments.

Katie Dion, Daniel Dion’s twin sister, said her brother has suffered for years with behavior and anger issues, according to the Chicago Tribune. Katie said her brother hasbecome more reclusive in recent years, according to the article.

“I feel really horrible for that girl,” Dion told the Chicago Tribune.

Katherine King was described by a family member as a ”good girl,” according to the article. Her Facebook page included videos of her singing her own original compositions and shows photos of her visiting with family members.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the stabbing and no further details were available as of Tuesday.
