Women’s Club of Inverness Celebrates Make a Difference Day
CAPTION: (Left to Right: Storyteller Carol Bradley and WCI member Chair LouAnn Casey.)

Make a Difference Day will be celebrated nationwide on October 28, 2017, marking the largest, single day of
service hours. In the Women's Club of Inverness (WCI) tradition, the membership celebrated Make a Difference Day at its October meeting with a service project for one of our grant recipients.
WCI Community Improvement Project Chair, Lou Ann Casey planned for this year’s
project: AMITA Health (Alexian Brothers) Women & Children’s Hospital in
Hoffman Estates. Katie Hammerberg, Coordinator of Child Life Services, was the
speaker at the meeting who explained the important role of her group in the
hospital setting. She also thanked the membership as the Women & Children’s
Hospital has been a WCI grant recipient for the last 4 years. Katie shared
specific examples of equipment they have been able to purchase due to these
awards. Members brought items for the children that Katie had previously
highlighted. Immediately following the meeting, Storyteller Carol Bradley performed a captivating presentation about the life of Ava Gardner.
WCI’s first fundraiser of the year, Jingle & Mingle, is the evening of November 15 at Medinah
Country Club. The Chair team of Sue Sadowski and Karen Kallman are expecting
another sold out ladies’ night out event. All fundraising proceeds from the
event are earmarked for WCI’s scholarship and philanthropy program; selections
are made in spring, voted on by the membership, and presented at the May 2018
meeting.
At the December 14 meeting, WCI members will be “jazzing up the
holidays” with entertainment from Tenito Productions, a jazz trio with vocals.
Chair Nina Stephenson and her co-chairs, Sue Rogers and Leslie Roberts, have
been quietly making plans for their big splash to unveil the theme and plans
for the 2018 fashion show luncheon benefit. Table reservations also start at
this meeting. Guests should contact Regi Greene to attend the December 14
meeting at 847-925-0629 or regigreene@gmail.com.
