1 Dead, 2 Injured In Crash At LaGrange Road And 123rd Street In Palos Park

The 36-year-old man killed Saturday evening was passenger in a Chevy Cobalt. The drivers of both vehicles remain hospitalized, police said.

PALOS PARK, IL — A 36-year-old man from the United Kingdom was killed Saturday evening in a two-car crash at LaGrange Road and 123rd Street in Palos Park. Police said the man was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old woman.

Just after 6:30 p.m., Palos Park police answered a call for a two-vehicle crash at LaGrange Road (US Route 45) and 123rd Street. A preliminary investigation determined that a Chevy Cobalt making a left turn from the southbound Lagrange Road onto eastbound 123rd Street, when it was struck on the passenger side by a BMW that was traveling northbound on LaGrange Road, police said.

The male passenger in the Cobalt, who had a Chicago address, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family in the United Kingdom. He was taken to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The intersection and periphery roads were closed for over six hours as Palos Park police and the Cook County Sheriff Accident Reconstruction and evidence technicians investigated the accident scene.

“We’re executing search warrants and obtaining video,” said Chief Joe Miller, of the Palos Park Police Department. “It will take a while to investigate.”

The 26-year-old male BMW driver is currently hospitalized at Advocate Christ Medical Center. The woman driving the Cobalt remains hospitalized at Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital Hospital.
