2 Rob Shell Station At Gunpoint In Palos Heights

Two men rob the Shell gas station early Tuesday morning, hours after fatal vehicle accident near same corner in Palos Heights, police said.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Two armed men robbed a gas station near the corner where a fatal accident had occurred hours earlier in Palos Heights, police said.

“It’s like they were waiting for us to clear the [accident] scene,” said Deputy Chief Bill Czajkowski, of the Palos Heights Police Department.

Just after 2 a.m. Tuesday, police went to the Shell station near 121st Street and Ridgeland Avenue in response to a robbery. The cashier told police that two masked men entered the store waving a gun and announcing a robbery.

Police said the cashier was made to lie down on the floor while the two men went about taking cigarettes, lottery tickets and approximately $200 in cash. The cashier was not harmed. Police said the robbers were male blacks in their late 20s or early 30s.
