Alan is survived by his two children, Geoffrey (Katherine) and Stephen (Kasia), his mother, Evelyn, and his sister Janice Brack. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Sophia, Anastasia, Alexander, Nathan, Lucy, and James. He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Homer (“Hugh”).
Alan was a civil servant, with 35 years of service. He began on the City of Palos Heights’ planning commission, then served as an Alderman of the city for 22 years—the second longest tenure in city history. Alan is most known for his vision and role in developing the city’s Channel 4 cable station, which has become a model for other communities in the southwest suburbs. Professionally, he was a lawyer. He began practicing law as an Assistant States Attorney before moving into private practice, which he continued until his death.

Alan was a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (BA Economics) and John Marshall Law School (JD).
