OAK LAWN, IL — One of the best farmers markets in the south suburbs opens this Friday, June 7. The Hills Farmers Market and More will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday through Sept. 27, at Hickory Hills City Hall, 8652 W. 95th St.
Stop by for shopping, friendship and special events all summer long. The farmers market is organized by members of the Hills Chamber of Commerce, serving business owners and organizations in Palos Hills, Hickory Hills and the surrounding area.
Various food trucks will be parked on site featuring gyros, Italian beef sandwiches, loaded fries, tacos, tamales, hot dogs and avocado creations.
Many favorite vendors are returning for the 2024 season along with 19 new vendors making it the biggest farmers market since the Hills Chamber opened it three years ago.
Starting June 14, the chamber will be offering a FREE Farmers Market Fit Camp hosted by Meda Fit Hickory Hills for those 16 and over. Bring your yoga mat and towel and don’t forget a friend to join in on the fun. Each weekly session will be limited to 20 people from beginners to advanced. A sign-up form will be posted on the Hills Farmers Market and More Facebook page.
Representatives from the Illinois Tollway will also be around June 14 to help residents pick up new tags, provided you’re the one registered on your iPass account.
At a date to be announced in June, visitors can “Paint A Paver for $10 per person. Each person will receive a 12” x 12” cement paver to take home. Acrylic paints, brushes, rags and an apron will be provided for your use during our session. Bring your creativity (or if you need a little help, you can bring your stencils). Must be 18 and over to participate. Payment will be required prior to the event. Keep an eye on Facebook for the form.
“Storytime in the Park” by the Green Hills Library District will also be happening once a month. Bring a blanket, grab a snack from one of our food truck vendors, and relax for a bit. Some quiet quality time with your family.
The Hills Farmers Market will also continue its monthly raffle. In June, they will be raffle off a Char-Broil grill. The winning raffle ticket will be pulled on June 28 at noon. The “Market Moola” program is back for its third year. Get your weekly card stamped and at the end of the month put it in the basket and the chamber will pull two winners. Each winner will receive $25 in “Market Moola” that they can use at any of the vendors during the following month.
Live entertainment is featured at the beginning of every month plus other fun filled events are coming this year.
