Palos Park Police Take Part In 'Arrive Alive On Route 45' Traffic Safety Initiative

Motorists can expect to see heightened patrols July 16-18 on Route 45/LaGrange Road in Palos Park and other area communities.

PALOS PARK, IL—Palos Park police will join multiple police departments throughout Cook, Will and Kankakee counties in the “Arrive Alive on Route 45” traffic safety initiative starting July 16 through July 18. The effort is intended to combat the main factors in motor vehicle accidents and injuries.

During the initiative, motorists can expect to see extra patrols on LaGrange Road/Route 45. Officers will be paying attention to impaired driving, distracted driving, seat belts and speeding, which have been statistically shown to contribute to and increase the severity of motor vehicle accidents.

On July 16, 17 and 18, multiple agencies throughout Cook, Will and Kankakee counties will participate in the “Arrive Alive on Route 45” traffic safety initiative. This effort is intended to combat the main factors in motor vehicle accidents and injuries. These factors—impaired driving, distracted driving, seat belts, and speeding—have been statistically shown to contribute to and increase the severity of motor vehicle accidents.

This is the third year of this traffic safety initiative. In addition to Palos Park, participating agencies include: Westchester Police Department, Lagrange Park Police Department, Lagrange Police Department, Countryside Police Department, Hodgkins Police Department, Willow Springs Police Department, Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department, Palos Park Police Department, Orland Park Police Department, Orland Hills Police Department, Tinley Park Police Department, Mokena Police Department, and Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office.

The suburban departments will focus their traffic safety efforts on Route 45, also called Lagrange Road and 96th Avenue, which is a major thoroughfare that traverses these communities. During the initiative, additional resources will be used for public education, public awareness and enforcement to increase the safety of the motoring public.
