PALOS HILLS-HICKORY HILLS, IL—Back-to-school planning has already begun in North Palos School Dist. 117 with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the 2025-2026 school year.
The first day of school for D117 students will be Aug. 14 for K-8 students. Preschool starts Aug. 18.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. We also suggest that you check the full Dist. 117 calendar and your child's school calendar (Glen Oaks, Sorrick, Dorn, Oak Ridge and Conrady Junior High) for conferences, open houses, meetings, exams, early dismissals, athletic and other school events.
Aug. 14 - First day of school, grades K-8
Aug. 18 - First day of preschool
Sept. 7 - Labor Day, off
Oct. 12 - Columbus Day, off
Nov. 11 - Veterans Day, off
Nov. 23 and Nov. 24 - Parent-Teacher Conferences, no student attendance

Dec. 23 to Jan. 5 - Winter break
Jan. 6 - Institute Day, no student attendance
Jan. 7 - School resumes
Jan. 18 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, off
Feb. 14 - Half-day

March 22 to March 26 - Spring Break
March 29 - No student attendance
