Palos Hills Women Sentenced To 5 Years For Role In Fraudulent Prescription Conspiracy

PALOS HILLS, IL—A Palos Hills woman who took part in an illegal prescription scheme has been sentenced to five years in federal prison. Amani Ibrahim, 48, pleaded guilty earlier this year to a federal drug conspiracy charge.

Ibrahim was one of five alleged co-conspirators indicted a year ago, who, beginning in January 2022, the complaint said, began forging prescriptions with information stolen from physicians for controlled substances, including oxycodone, hydrocodone, alprazolam, promethazine-codeine syrup and amphetamines.

According to the complaint, Amani was spotted driving a 2021 purple Jeep Cherokee to Walgreens stores in Hoffman Estates and Darien, where she picked up 90 doses of oxycodone in January 2025. She was also said to be in frequent touch with her co-conspirator Henson.

During the three years of their criminal operation, federal prosecutors said Ibrahim was responsible for the unlawful distribution of 149,152 doses of oxycodone, 41,853 doses of hydrocodone, 30,517 doses of alprazolam, 22,625 doses of promethazine-codeine syrup, and 6,990 doses of amphetamine.

Ibrahim also financially benefited from the scheme, resulting in the forfeiture of $200,800 in illicit proceeds that were seized from her residence, federal prosecutors said.

She was sentenced to five years in a federal prison on Sept. 4 by U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Kennelly. The four other co-conspirators were also convicted as part of the federal investigation.
