League Of Women Voters Host Info Sessions For MVCC Technical Career Program Referendum

Learn more about the Nov. 3 referendum to expand technical career programs at the Oak Lawn and Palos Heights libraries, Oct. 10 and Oct. 24.

The League of Women Voters Palos Orland chapter is hosting two information sessions on the Moraine Valley Community $115M referendum to expand technical career programs Oct. 10, at the Oak Lawn library and Oct. 24 at the Palos Heights library. (MVCC)

PALOS HILLS, IL—On Nov. 3, your ballot will include a bond referendum on enhancing six of the technical career programs at Moraine Valley Community College.

To help voters make an informed decision, the League of Women Voters of Palos Orland Area will host two Saturday information sessions: Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. at the Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave., and Oct. 24 at 1 p.m., at the Palos Heights Public Library, 12501 S. 71st Ave.

Moraine Valley Community College is also hosting a virtual session is planned for 1 p.m. Sept. 29 at Moraine Valley Public Information Session. Community members will have opportunities to ask questions at all of these sessions.

College representatives will share information about the planned campus improvements and show you how to use a simple tool to calculate the effect, if any, on your property taxes. The college is also hosting information sessions on its campus and a virtual session at 1 p.m. Sept. 29 at Moraine Valley Public Information Virtual Session. Community members will have opportunities to ask questions at all of these sessions.

This referendum may slightly affect your property taxes, if you live in one of these 26 communities: Alsip, Bedford Park, Blue Island, Bridgeview, Burbank, Calumet Park, Chicago Ridge, Crestwood, Evergreen Park, Forest View, (part), Hickory Hills, Hometown, Justice, Merrionette Park, Oak Forest (part), Oak Lawn, Orland Hills, Orland Park, Palos Heights, Palos Hills, Palos Park, Robbins, Summit, Tinley Park (part), Willow Springs (part), Worth.
