
Shepard High School in Palos Heights proudly announces that the students listed below graduated with the 10 highest grade point averages for the class of 2012.
Each has merited Honors with Distinction, the highest classification possible, for earning a GPA above 4.0 (possible due to weighted grades for Honors and Advanced Placement courses.) All 10 also qualified for
National Honor Society and received Illinois State Scholar honors this year. The top 10 graduates include:
Michael Busch – Captain for three sports (cross country, track, and wrestling), Michael also participated in German Club. He will begin studies in aerospace engineering next fall at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Amanda Del Toro - A member of the executive board for student council, Amanda participated in soccer, Key Club, and as a student ambassador. She will begin studies in business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign this fall.
Shannon Dolehide – A teen leader for Operation Snowball, Shannon participated in soccer, student council, Key Club, German Club, and Mathletes and qualified for Delta Epsilon
Phi (German honor society.) She will begin studies in business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
this fall.

Brandon Heidinger – Secretary for National Honor Socieyt and captain for both cross country and track, Brandon also participated in Mathletes and Key Club. Next fall he will begin studies in civil engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Sam Oprondek – President of National Honor Society, Sam participated in swimming, speech, Group Interpretation, Contest Play, and Science Club. Next year Sam will begin studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Laura Prosapio – Class president four straight years and president of Leo Club, Laura also participated in tennis, Class Officers, Tri-M (music honors), Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, and honors concert choir. She will begin studies in psychology next fall at Evangel University in
Springfield, Missouri.
Shea Schaaf – Captain of the tennis team and South Suburban Conference singles champion last season,
Shea also participated in Mathletes, German Club, and Scholastic Bowl while volunteering at the Palos Heights Public Library and Recreation Center. She will begin studies in mathematics and engineering next fall at UCLA.
Jarrod Wagner – A member of Delta Epsilon Phi (German language honors), Jarrod participated in soccer, Key Club, Mathletes Science Club, German Club, musical cast and crew, and show choir. Next fall he begins studies in biomedical engineering at Purdue University.
Fasika Zellelew – Fasika participated in literary magazine, Mathletes, and Leo Club. Next fall she will begin studies at the University of Chicago.
Weronika Zolnik – Vice president of NHS, Weronika also participated in show choir, fall musical, French Club, freshman advisory, and tennis. Next year Weronika will begin studies in biology at Loyola University Chicago.
