Annual Giving Tree at Green Hills Library

Green Hills Public Library District partners with BEDS Plus to collect much needed items for those experiencing homelessness.

The Green Hills Public Library District is partnering with BEDS Plus to hold an annual Giving Tree at the Library. The Library first partnered with BEDS Plus in 2019 and was able to collect hundreds of new items for individuals experiencing homelessness. The mission of BEDS Plus Care is to help vulnerable individuals stabilize their lives through housing and supportive services in an effort to reduce and end homelessness in Southwest Suburban Cook County.

Though the Library had to take a break in 2020 due to the pandemic, they are looking forward to bringing it back again this year. Deputy Director Sara Horn emphasized that “Forming and strengthening partnerships with local organizations is something we value. Together, there’s a lot we can do to help our communities, and it has been really great to work with BEDS Plus on this initiative.”

Reflecting on the success of the 2019 Giving Tree, Horn said she was amazed to see the number of items that Library visitors donated to the Giving Tree in 2019. “You can tell that the community wants to be part of giving back and helping those in need,” said Horn.
