Two men suspected of robbing the Hickory Hills Chase bank branch were taken into custody Wednesday evening, police said. Charges are pending
HICKORY HILLS, IL — Two middle-aged men, possibly wearing wigs, made a poor attempt to take over a bank Wednesday morning during a robbery in Hickory Hills. Both suspects were arrested later in the evening and charges are pending, police confirmed.
Around 11 a.m. Wednesday, Hickory Hills police responded to a robbery in progress at the Chase bank branch at 95th Street and Roberts Road. Both suspects were armed with handguns and fled just seconds before Hickory Hills police arrived.
There is no evidence at this time that a third suspect was involved, police said.

Approximately 15 people were inside the bank at the time of the robbery attempt, police told Patch. No patrons or employees were injured.
“Our officer was there within a minute of receiving the call,” said Deputy Chief Adam Gulczynski, of the Hickory Hills Police Department.

Because of the large police presence, Conrady Junior High School placed its students in soft lockdown.
Surveillance video from a business across the street from the bank showed a vehicle arriving but not parking in a regular space at a business adjacent to the bank, police said. Both suspects fled in the vehicle.
The pair is believed to have gotten away with a couple thousand dollars. The first suspect wore a black or brown trench coat, the second suspect was wearing a green jacket.
Gulcynski said the FBI immediately responded and assisted police in taking witness statements and processing the scene for evidence.
Employees were held for an hour so they could give statements to the FBI and police before the branch was closed for the rest of the afternoon. The bank did order pizza for shaken employees before they were dismissed for the day.
The FBI is said to be working on developments in the immediate aftermath of the bank robbery. Surveillance photos and video have not yet been released. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chicago FBI office at 312-421-6700 or tips.fbi.gov.
