Back To School: Palos Consolidated SD 118 School Calendar for 2024-25

PALOS PARK, IL — There are just a few short weeks of summer left, until students head back to school this month. Back-to-school planning has already begun in Palos Consolidated School Dist. 118, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the 2024-2025 school year.

The first day of school for grades 1-8 is Aug. 21, with kindergartners and preschoolers reporting Aug. 22 for Dist. 118 schools in Palos Park, Palos Heights and Palos Township.

Some dates are subject to change during the school year. We also suggest that you check the Dist. 118 calendar or your child’s school (Palos West, Palos East and Palos South Middle School) for late starts, early dismissals, exams, open houses, athletic and school events, as well as your child's school.

Here is the list of dates to know for Dist. 118 schools this school year:

Aug. 21 - First day of school, 1-8; visitation for kindergarten and preschool.
Aug. 22 - First day of regular attendance for kindergarten and preschool
Sept. 2 - Labor Day, no school
Oct. 11 - Teacher’s Institute Day, no school
Oct. 14 - Columbus Day, no school
Nov. 1 - Election Day, no school
Nov. 22 and Nov. 26 - Parent-Teacher Conferences, no school
Nov. 27 to Nov. 29 - Thanksgiving Break
Dec. 23 through Jan. 3 – Winter Break
Jan. 6 - School resumes
Jan. 20 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school
Feb. 17 - Presidents Day, no school
March 3 - Casimir Pulaski Day, no school
March 24 through March 28 - Spring Break
March 31 - No school
April 1 - School resumes
April 18 and April 21 - No school
May 26 - Memorial Day, no school
June 4 - Eighth-grade graduation
June 5 - Half day
June 6 - Last day of school (half-day)
