79.97 years old, passed away peacefully at his home on July 23, 2021, surrounded by his children and loving wife, following a hard-fought battle with esophageal cancer.
Bernie was born on August 2, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Bernard and Virginia Lindsted. He attended Mt. Carmel High School and began his long career as an Allstate agent in 1968. He married the love of his life and best friend, Leslie L. Lindsted, in July of 1987. Leslie was his partner, companion, and other half in life. They worked together at the Allstate office, retiring in 2012. Throughout his career, he formed many relationships, treated his clients like family, and won countless top sales honors, awards, and trips all around the world.
Family - “la famiglia” - meant more to Bernie than anything else in the world, something he proudly and often mentioned to anyone and everyone. He was one of a kind, a larger than life personality with a special gift for making everyone feel like family. Always a source of positivity, he was full of laughter and jokes, knowledge and guidance, and touched the lives of so many. No get together was complete without food and drinks, and despite traveling the world, his favorite place on earth was sitting in his backyard by the pool, drink in hand, surrounded by family and friends, with his famous pasta cooking in the kitchen.
