Bring On The Heat To 'Chili In The Park' Cook-Off

Do you make the best chili in the world? Then enter your heat in the CASI-sanctioned cookoff "its Chili In The Park" on Feb. 15.

PALOS PARK, IL — What's better in the winter than a hot bowl of chili? If you think you make the best pot of chili on your block and possibly the world, then enter "It's Chili in The Park" in the Palos Park Recreation Center, 8901 W. 123rd St. The chili cook off is Saturday, Feb. 15.
Cooks arrive at 7 a.m. and start cooking at 11 a.m., doors open for the public tasting at 12:30 p.m. Palos Park's chili cook-off is a sanctioned event by the Chili Appreciation Society International.

CASI cooks come together to compete for prizes and points that will take them to the chili lovers’ national competition. Local cooks are encouraged to participate. There is also a $100 People's Choice Competition which will be judged by festival participants. Prizes and trophies will be presented to the People's Choice winner and the CASI top three winners.

Early registration is $20 per chili team; $25 the day of the cook-off. Complete the 2020 application and drop it off at the rec center between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or mail along with a check made payable to the Village of Palos Park at Palos Park Recreation and Parks Department, 8901 W. 123rd St., Palos Park, IL 60464, or email applications to jschultz@palospark.org. Admission is $5. It's Chili In Park promises some delicious free chili to taste and judge, live music and a fun, entertaining time at the event. More information about the cook-off can be found on the application.
