Bring Your Papers, Drop Off Your Pills, At The Palos Heights Metra

Bring your documents for shredding and drop off unused meds at the Palos Heights Metra Station this Saturday, Aug. 27.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Bring your paper and pills this Saturday, Aug. 27 to the Palos Heights Metra Station, 11451 Southwest Highway.

The Palos Heights Public Library, Lake Katherine and the City of Palos Heights are holding a paper shredding from 9 to 10:30 a.m. or until the truck fills up. Palos Heights police will be on site, for the prescription drug drop-off (no liquids, needles or salves). Unused and expired medications will be collected and will be destroyed.

For paper shredding, there is a two-box limit per vehicle. Paper bags are okay to bundle papers in, but NO plastic. Make sure papers are free of staples, paper clips and binders.

Document shredding is one of the most effective tools in preventing identity theft. Shredding documents also has positive environmental impacts; once shredded, all paper is recycled, thereby reducing the amount of waste in landfills.

Disposing of unused meds keeps them out of the hands of family members, especially kids, and from being flushed into the water system.
