Cardiovascular surgeon to speak at Sandburg in free community education event
Health Fair and Screenings including blood pressure, body mass index, % body fat, blood sugar, oxygen screening and personal cardiac risk

Dr. Pat Pappas, Cardiovascular Surgeon and Medical Director of the Advocate Heart Institute at Christ Medical Center, will present a free community education session at Sandburg High School on Wednesday, March 18.
From 5 until 8 p.m., there will be a Health Fair and Screenings including blood pressure, body mass index, % body fat, blood sugar, oxygen screening and personal cardiac risk factor analysis for heart disease. Educational displays about pacemakers, stents, heart transplants, mechanical heart devices, and risk factors for heart disease will also be displayed.
At 6 p.m., Dr. Pappas will speak about heart surgery. This is an extension of the “Live...from the Heart” experience that students have taken part in to view heart surgery while it takes place.

The program will be held in the school’s Performing Arts Center. Enter the campus from LaGrange Road and use the North parking lot.
