Celebrate the Mighty Oak Saturday At Oak-Tober Fest
Celebrate the mighty oak, Saturday, Oct. 16, at Lake Katherine, featuring acorn racing, scarecrow making, beer garden and educational stuff.
PALOS HEIGHTS, IL —Why is the oak tree so important? They are a keystone species, that support entire ecosystems. Over 500 other species depend on the mighty oak for survival.
Celebrate the oak tree with Lake Katherine Nature and Botanic Center, from to 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16. At the fest you'll find a beer garden by One Allegiance Brewing Co., acorn racing, scarecrow making, hayrides, educational displays and more. Free oak saplings will be provided by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.
The event is free to attend, but some activities may require a fee. Lake Katherine is located at 7402 Lake Katherine Drive, Palos Heights.
