There has been a lot of talk about The Beatles 50th anniversary in America. This weekend, The Apollo Chorus brings the richness of 150 its voices to songs including classics like All You Need is Love, Penny Lane, Yesterday, Lady Madonna, Eleanor Rigby, Blackbird, Michelle, and Here, There, Everywhere.
This is a show the entire family will enjoy. The Beatles & Friends showcases the intricate instrumental and vocal arrangements The Fab Four used to create their own brand of rock music. From Classical to Indian Sitar music to Chicago's own blues, The Beatles continuously incorporated different musical genres to reinvent rock music. In addition to Beatles classics, The Apollo Chorus will sing hits from Elton John, Billy Joel, and other rock legends.
The Apollo Chorus is a Chicago treasure. The group has been on stage during so many important Chicago moments, such as the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, the Century of Progress International Exposition, the opening of Medinah Temple, the opening of Orchestra Hall (Apollo was considered the official chorus of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra prior to the formation of the Symphony Chorus), the opening of Navy Pier, and the “Oprah Surprise Spectacular.”
