PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — A Chicago man currently being held in Cook County Jail for another case has been charged in a June burglary in Palos Heights. Anthony Bass, 19, is facing felony counts of commercial burglary and felony retail theft.

On June 25, Palos Heights officers went to Jewel-Osco at 128th Street and Harlem Avenue to investigate for a retail theft that had just occurred. Surveillance video show a man, later identified as Bass, prying open a locked liquor cabinet and taking over $1,000 with of liquor, police said. Bass is believed to have committed similar burglaries in other towns.

Chicago police arrested Bass on July 3 when he was found in possession of a vehicle that had been stolen in a carjacking, police said. Palos Heights detectives interviewed Bass, who police said confessed to Jewel liquor burglary. Bass was already being held without bond in Cook County Jail. Bass is set for a future hearing in the Bridgeview Courthouse.
