Child Sexual Abuse Material Found On Worth Man's Cellphone: Cops

Some sexually explicit videos and photos included children as young as 5 years old, Cook County Sheriff's Police said.

WORTH, IL – A Worth man is accused of downloading numerous sexually explicit images and videos of children under the age of 13 on his cellphone. Juan Carlos Alvarado-Platero, 43, was charged with possession and dissemination of child sexual abuse material.

Acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, investigators from the special victims unit were able to trace images of child sexual abuse material to an account and app linked to Alvarado-Piatero, according to the Cook County Sheriff.

A search warrant of the social media app revealed eight images and seven videos of child sexual abuse material had been shared from the account linked to the Worth man’s cellphone, police said.

Alvarado-Platero was arrested Tuesday at his residence in the of the 6700 block of West 113th Street. His cellphone was also seized, police said. Alvarado-Platero allegedly admitted to investigators he used his cellphone to view, download and share images and videos on social media apps of underage children engaging in sexual acts.

A subsequent forensic examination of his phone revealed many images and videos of children as young as 5-months-old being sexually abused, sheriff’s police said.

Alvarado-Platero was slated to appear at the Bridgeview Courthouse on Wednesday for a bond hearing on charges of dissemination of child pornography, a Class X felony, and possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony.
