Cicada-Mania, Free Saplings On Tap At Palos Park Arbor Day Celebration

PALOS PARK, IL — Palos Park, the village of trees, will celebrate Arbor Day Sunday, May 5, featuring a cicada expert, a poster contest and free saplings. The Arbor Day fun starts at noon at The Center in the Lodge, 12700 Southwest Highway, Oak Lawn.

Featured presenter, Tricia Bethke, of the Morton Arboretum and invasive species expert, offers a special presentation, “Cicadas In The Park,” as the 17-year and 13-year broods will soon be climbing out of the ground, shed their skins, make a lot of noise, mate and die.

All attendees will receive a raffle ticket to win door prizes at the end of the celebration. Free seedlings are available for the choosing, including:
