PALOS HILLS, IL — The City of Palos Hills understand that fireworks are a fun and exciting way to celebrate, but they also pose serious fire and safety hazards.
Remember, the laws in Illinois do not change over the July 4th holiday or for any holiday. Fireworks are no more legal on these dates than they are at other times of the year.
The purchase of some types of fireworks may be legal in some neighboring states, the fact remains that they are illegal to use or even possess in Illinois.

The Office of The State Fire Marshal and The Palos Hills Police Department recommend that people attend only licensed public fireworks displays.
In addition to fireworks being illegal, at times people overlook the dangers involved. Fireworks can get into the hands of children who can be burned, blinded and otherwise injured from heat, fire, projectiles and explosions. Remember, fireworks are gunpowder explosives that are dangerous to adults and children. Possession of Illegal fireworks can lead to confiscation, fines and arrests.
