Conrady Band Gives 5th Graders a Glimpse of What It Could Be Like

Band Displays Musical Talent

The Conrady Junior High School Band went on kind of a 'tour' recently to impress and, potentially, 'drum up' some interest from aspiring musicians for next year's band.

Under the leadership of director Rob Slater, the band made brief stops at Glen Oaks and Oak Ridge schools where they treated fifth-grade students to a sampling of individual instruments and the unique sounds they make.

There was the brass section, the woodwinds section and the percussion section. The sounds that emanated from those instruments were magical.

While there, the band also performed snippets of popular movie soundtracks and asked the students to guess what they were. The band played the songs so well that the students identified them with ease.
