Conrady Family Fun Night

Parents and students brave rain to attend event

Their missions - those they chose to accept - were many.

They could select from more than 30 different "tasks" that ranged from solving a math problem and taking a selfie with the correct answer to writing a poem of at least four lines and videotaping a sibling, parent or classmate reciting the poem.

Dozens of students and their parents braved the rain Wednesday night to attend another successful Family Fun Night at Conrady Junior High School. This night’s event had students and/or parents downloading an app on their phones to follow clues in a veritable school-wide scavenger hunt.

Kate and Lydia were working together to build a row of at least 20 dominoes that they photographed knocking down. “It’s so much fun spending time with my mom and my friends, and I get to do it at school where my mom gets a chance to see my classrooms and meet some of my teachers,” she said.

Seventh-grader Nicholas Huipio was there with his mom Elizabeth Wlodarski. The two were completing a "mission" that included “play-fighting” and showing off their martial arts moves while being photographed.

Mrs. Wlodarski said she puts an emphasis on family time and enjoys coming to school to meet some of her son’s teachers. “I’m doing this with him and after we leave here he is going to church (Ash Wednesday) with me.”
