Cyclone golfers ready to take on competition
The 2019-20 Moraine Valley golf team has some experienced returners and a couple incoming freshmen to face the season head on.

A small but mighty crew, the 2019-20 Moraine Valley golf team has some experienced returners and a couple incoming freshmen to take on the conference and region competition.
Every year is different and the competition varies, but this group is talented, said head Coach Matt Lovelace, entering his fourth season at the helm.
Last year, the Cyclones peaked at the perfect time—NJCAA Region tournament—where they finished in eighth place. Within that group, three return to the team this year: Akim Bizati (Lockport Township), Paul Douglas (Peotone) and Michael Rollberg (Oak Lawn). The new additions are Marty Bennett (Evergreen Park) and Patrick Clifton (Sandburg).

The region tournament is back at PrairieView Golf Club in Byron, Illinois. Lovelace competed on that course when he was a Cyclone and believes the more straightforward design will be better for his players.
In addition to gunning for a coveted conference championship, Lovelace wants his team to play well at regionals with another peak performance.

“I expect good things from the returners. Douglas improved all year last season, and Akim has such a good swing,” Lovelace said. “I’m excited for the season and looking forward to what the new guys can do.”
