Cyclones reach No. 3 nationally for first time

The Moraine Valley women's basketball team has climbed the NJCAA Division II ranks to reach No. 3 for the first time.

For the first time in Moraine Valley women’s basketball history, the team was ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA Division II, the highest they’ve climbed the chart to date.

Their success stems from a strong core team that has defeated four other nationally ranked squads while suffering only one loss so far. They were most recently at No. 5, their previous best, before the last poll.

“Being No. 3 in the nation is an honor. Local high schools and AAU coaches don’t have to send their students away to find high-level success at the college level. We are right here. We’ve been winning and have been nationally ranked for years. However, this team is taking Moraine Valley success to new heights,” said Head Coach Delwyn Jones. “Great character, great academics, great chemistry and great talent all working together for a common goal is what made us No. 3. Now, a bullseye is on our backs. We have to be ready because every team from today to nationals will try to knock us off our tenuous branch. This has been a fun year!”
